Filler Dissolving Injections
Precise and effective dissolving of unwanted hyaluronic acid fillers — correct asymmetry, address complications, or simply reverse a previous treatment.
Overview
Filler Dissolving Injections
Filler dissolving treatments use hyaluronidase — an enzyme that breaks down hyaluronic acid — to safely and effectively dissolve unwanted dermal filler. Whether you're unhappy with the results of a previous treatment, have developed a complication such as nodules or asymmetry, or simply wish to return your face to its natural state, filler dissolving offers a reliable solution.
Hyaluronidase works by breaking down the hyaluronic acid molecules in the filler, allowing your body to naturally process and eliminate them. Results can often be seen within a few hours to a few days after treatment, depending on the amount of filler present and individual metabolic factors.
Dr Lindsay Moran offers filler dissolving for her own patients and also accepts new patients who have been treated elsewhere. A thorough assessment will be carried out to understand your concerns and determine the most appropriate approach.

Treatment & Results
The effect of hyaluronidase is often visible within hours, though full results may take a few days as the body clears the dissolved filler. In some cases, multiple sessions may be needed if significant amounts of filler are present or if the filler has become integrated with surrounding tissue. After dissolving, the skin may appear slightly deflated — further cosmetic treatment can be planned once the area has fully settled.
Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Can all dermal fillers be dissolved?
Hyaluronidase only dissolves hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers — the most common type of dermal filler. Non-HA fillers (such as calcium hydroxylapatite or poly-L-lactic acid) cannot be dissolved in this way.
Is the treatment painful?
The injections can cause mild discomfort. Topical numbing cream is applied before treatment to minimise any stinging or discomfort.
Are there any risks or side effects?
Side effects are generally mild and temporary — redness, swelling, bruising, and tenderness at injection sites are common. In rare cases, an allergic reaction to hyaluronidase can occur. Patients with known allergies to bee or wasp venom, or to hyaluronidase, should inform Dr Moran before treatment.
How soon can I have new filler after dissolving?
We generally recommend waiting at least 2–4 weeks after dissolving before placing new filler, to allow the area to fully settle. Dr Moran will advise the appropriate timeline based on your individual situation.
If my previous filler caused problems, is treatment free?
If you were previously treated by Dr Moran and are experiencing an adverse outcome, dissolving is offered free of charge. For new patients treated elsewhere, please refer to our cost page for pricing information.
